Expect smooth, balanced flavour with medium “malic” acidity and notes of berry and cherry. This single origin is well suited to both lighter and darker roasts due to the balance it offers between body and complexity – seemingly trading off neither of these qualities. We roast it to City+ (medium roast), making it a particularly good match for drinking black as a filter/pour-over. However, it pairs well with milk based espresso drinks too.

Brewing recommendations
Our head roaster recommends enjoying this roast using any of your preferred methods, due to the good balance this bean naturally offers between body and complexity, as well as the degree of roast. For those with bean to cup machines, this roast will offer you a great cup with an incredible aroma, but may disappoint if you are used to very dark espresso blends or drinks that are predominantly milk based (e.g. lattes).
Espresso extraction tips: we recommend a longer extraction time and longer shot on espresso machines. In our cafe, we usually work on 21g in to 45g out, in 27s. We’ve found this to be the sweet spot for really bringing the sweetness out and allowing the flavour through, while balancing the acidity.
Let us know if you have a bean to cup machine and would prefer a darker roast.
We always recommend ordering “whole beans” for that extra flavour and “crisp” freshness you won’t get from store-bought coffee. The Speciality Coffee Association recommends grinding only the amount of coffee to be used during the brew and grinding no more than 15 minutes before brewing. You’d be surprised at the difference in freshness, aroma and flavour these changes will bring to your cup.
