Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee, and Yirgacheffe is its crown jewel. Located in the Gedeo Zone of southern Ethiopia, the Yirgacheffe region produces some of the world’s most celebrated and distinctive specialty coffees — grown at extraordinary altitudes of 1,900–2,150 metres above sea level in iron-rich, acidic highland soils that have nurtured coffee plants for over a millennium.
This fully washed single origin undergoes careful wet-processing at a traditional washing station — pulped, fermented and washed with mountain water before being dried on raised beds for 10–12 days. The result is a remarkably clean, transparent cup that showcases the terroir with breathtaking clarity.
Tasting notes: Delicate jasmine florals, bright lemon citrus, honey sweetness, black tea and bergamot, with a hauntingly clean, lingering finish.
Roast level: Light-Medium
Process: Washed
Origin: Yirgacheffe, Gedeo Zone, Ethiopia
Altitude: 1,900–2,150m a.s.l.
Best for: Filter, pour-over, AeroPress. Best enjoyed black — milk masks the delicate florals.
