The short version

The Eureka Helios 80 is a serious, professional-grade “on-demand” espresso grinder from one of Italy’s most respected grinder manufacturers — the kind of grinder you’d expect to see on the counter of a busy specialty café. This unit has only pulled around 300 doses since new, is in excellent working order, and has just one minor cosmetic scratch on the side (noted honestly below) — otherwise it’s essentially a like-new professional grinder at a well-below-retail price.

New to commercial grinders? Here’s what makes this one special

“On-demand” grinding means the grinder only grinds the exact amount of coffee needed for each shot, right as you pull it, rather than grinding a batch in advance and storing it in a hopper chamber (the older “doser” style). Freshly ground coffee starts losing flavour within minutes of grinding, so on-demand grinding is the modern standard in specialty coffee — you get maximum freshness in every single shot.

Commercial vs. home grinders. The gap between a home grinder and a commercial one like this comes down to burr size, motor duty cycle, and precision. The Helios 80 uses large 80mm hardened steel burrs — nearly double the size of a typical home grinder’s burrs — spun by a motor built to run continuously through a full café service without overheating. Bigger, harder burrs stay sharp for far longer (typically hundreds of kilograms of coffee) and grind faster and cooler, which matters a lot when you’re making drink after drink back to back. It dispenses coffee at 6.5–8 grams per second, so even a double-shot dose takes just a couple of seconds.

Stepless adjustment means the grind setting isn’t limited to fixed “clicks” like many cheaper grinders — you can dial in infinitely fine adjustments between coarse and fine, which is exactly what espresso demands, since even a tiny change in grind size can make the difference between a sour, watery shot and a rich, balanced one.

Barista-friendly extras: a bright touchscreen for menu and dose control, the ability to save up to three programmed grind times (or run continuously), an adjustable and removable dosing spout for using it with different portafilter sizes, a portafilter-activation switch (grinds automatically when you dock the portafilter), and built-in barista spotlights so you can see exactly where the grounds are landing.
