R65,000 | Secondhand, barely used (approx. 300 cups pulled) | Excellent condition
The short version
This is a genuine Italian-made, two-group commercial espresso machine — the kind of machine you’d find behind the counter at a proper café — offered here at a fraction of new price because it’s barely been used. Roughly 300 cups have gone through it since new, which for a machine built to pull tens of thousands of shots over its working life is essentially “just broken in.” It’s finished in matte black with a modern, straight-lined design, and the dose buttons carry a red LED backlight — a genuine stock feature of this model (not a mod), and it looks fantastic on a counter or bar cart.
New to commercial espresso machines? Here’s what you’re looking at
If you’re used to a home espresso machine, a few things about this Wega will stand out:
“2-group” means two brew heads. Each group can pull a shot independently, so two drinks can be made at the same time — essential for a café, but also genuinely useful for anyone who entertains or runs a home setup where more than one person wants coffee at once.
“Fully automatic” / “volumetric dosing” means the machine measures water electronically and stops each shot automatically once it hits a pre-programmed volume, rather than the barista eyeballing it and stopping the shot by hand (semi-automatic) or the machine running purely on a mechanical lever (manual/lever machines). This Pegaso has four programmable dose buttons per group, so you can save your exact ristretto, espresso, lungo, or long-black volumes and get a consistent pour every time, by any user, without needing to watch the cup.
Commercial vs. home machines — why it matters. Commercial machines like this one are built around a large boiler (10.5 litres here, versus roughly 0.3–2 litres in most home machines) with continuous thermosiphon circulation, which means the brew temperature stays rock-steady even when you’re pulling shot after shot back to back. Home machines, by contrast, are designed for intermittent use — a shot or two, then a cooldown period — and their smaller boilers and components simply aren’t built to run all day. That’s the core difference between “espresso machine” and “commercial espresso machine”: duty cycle. This machine can run a busy service all day without breaking a sweat, which also means light home or small-office use will barely register.

A useful tip before you buy
Because this machine draws close to 3kW, it needs a dedicated, appropriately rated circuit — the kind an electrician would normally install for a coffee station, not a standard wall socket shared with other appliances. If you’re setting this up at home or in a small shop, it’s worth checking your electrics (or budgeting for the work) before delivery day.
